Environmental Group Protests Dominion Power Plant

Sept. 10, 2013

An environmental action group is protesting a Dominion Virginia power plant.

The group, Environment Virginia, which is a part of Environment America, met on the Downtown Mall on Tuesday morning to demonstrate against the power plant in Chesterfield. It is one of the state's largest carbon polluters.

A report released by the group says America's power plants are the largest source of carbon pollution. Virginia's power plants produce more carbon than 7 million cars.

"America's dirtiest power plants are the elephant in the room when it comes to global warming, and acting on climate demands that we clean the carbon pollution up from the single largest source," said Kimberly Williams of Environment America.

The group wants state leaders to support limits on power plant pollution.
