RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A former Richmond police officer is campaigning against parole for a man convicted of killing three people and wounding her and another officer in 1984.

Cheryl Nici was shot by Kenneth Woodfin after the murders while she was working off-duty at a Richmond hotel.

Nici tells WWBT that she still bears the scars of that encounter.

She says the state is trying to release as many inmates as possible once they reach the age of 60, and Woodfin would be a prime candidate.

Woodfin will be up for parole in June. He's serving three life sentences for the slayings.

Nici says she hopes a letter-writing campaign, a website and Facebook page will persuade the Virginia Parole Board to again deny parole for Woodfin.
