NEW YORK (AP) - Throngs of people have mourned the death of a pregnant woman and her husband who were killed in a hit and run hours earlier in New York City. Their baby boy was born prematurely and survived.
Police say the driver of a BMW slammed into the car carrying Nachman and Raizy Glauber, both 21, at an intersection in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn early Sunday.
A crowd of their fellow Orthodox Jews gathered on the street Sunday afternoon for their funerals. Over a loudspeaker, a man could be heard sobbing as he spoke over their caskets. Afterward, the cars carrying the bodies left and headed to Monsey, N.Y., where Nachman Glauber grew up. Another service is planned there.
Police say both the driver of the BMW and a passenger fled and are being sought.
