Now that Albemarle County residents are approved for federal aid after last summer's earthquake, the Federal Emergency Management Agency wants people to know the help they can get.

The agency held a town hall in Charlottesville on Monday, Feb. 13, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Albemarle County Office Building on McIntire Road. The town hall took place at the Lane Auditorium.

"A small crack might be a small crack right now, but one hard freeze and a good thaw, that crack might be a lot of damage that you weren't ready for. So we encourage people...you know, the worst thing that can happen is, we say no," said Michelle Breeland of FEMA.

Representatives from FEMA will be on hand to answer any questions about getting help. Litigation agents will talk about how to build safer homes.

The deadline to apply is March 5. To apply you can visit FEMA's link website.
