Students from the Charlottesville Day School were out and active on Sunday for Family Fitness Day.

The school organized an afternoon full of activities for the students and their families at Panorama Farms in Albemarle County.

The Family Fitness Fair is a popular event for students. There were several 100 yard dash races, and other games kids could play to enjoy being outside and staying active.

The head of the day school says it's important for children to get their exercise.

“Our goal is to get kids moving, to show them that running can be fun,” says Stacey Bruns. “It's not about winning; it's about participating, doing your best, growing as a runner and showing good sportsmanship.”

It got a little hot out on the farm, so the Hollymeade Fire Dept. came out to cool the children off with water from the fire hose.

The Fitness Fair is held every year on the last Sunday of April.
