They might have missed taking home the National Championship Wednesday night, but it didn't stop Cavalier fans from coming out to celebrate a record setting season.
It was all about reflecting on how far they had come together for the baseball team.
Emotions ran high as coaches, players and fans looked back on the past few months.
Fans lined the field for a chance to meet their favorite players and get them to sign their posters and baseballs.
Among them, some devoted little 'hoos. Susan Gentry says Maggie has been a devoted fan since pre-school.
“She has known every single player by name and number since she was 4."
Aaron Hetlers might not have been allowed to stay up late enough to watch the end of the game, but was still cheering the team on.
"I felt pretty sad when I heard that they lost but it was still an amazing season I was really proud that they made it all the way to the college world series."
Some grown up fans felt like the team made good role models for little baseball players.
"We're really impressed with the entire program. The young men on the team go above and beyond for the community. We had a couple of the players come to my sons baseball game at the end of the season. We've just been impressed with the whole program. We're just thrilled for them that they made if this far."
For fans like Taylor Beard, it was all about letting the players know how proud they were of their season.
"We've been long-time supporters of the baseball program. It’s just fun to be here and express our joy at what a wonderful season the guys had today."
Coach O’Connor said even though they fell a few runs short of a national title, he was still so proud of this team for their humility and class shown on and off the field.
