The frame of a house is all that is left behind Friday in Albemarle County.
Firefighters encountered really heavy fire throughout a house near Free Union.
Firefighters were able to protect a propane gas tank in the back of the house from catching on fire.
Departments from as far away as Monticello Fire Department came to help. Crews used tankers to bring water in from a nearby creek.
"We had heavy black smoke showing from Crozet when we were coming out here from quite a distance,” said Justin Ide with the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department. “When we got to White Hall we could see heavy black smoke, and chief 53 called for a second alarm at that point because we knew at that point that it was pretty well going."
Firefighters are putting out hotspots at this time.
Officials will investigate the cause of the blaze.
There are no reports of injury.
