A fire in Nelson County destroyed a home and left nine people homeless with the Red Cross helping them find emergency shelter.

The fire destroyed a mobile home on Paloma Farm Lane, midway between Afton and North Garden.

Video showed the house in ruins with heavy smoke damage. Firefighters remained at the scene Monday afternoon to make sure the fire didn't kick up and spread to nearby trees.

Fire crews from throughout the area responded to the initial report.

If they did not want to invest a few bucks to properly insure themselves, they should get no help.

That's alot of people living in a mobile home. Maybe it was a double wide. It's sad when anyone loses their home.
