Parents and supporters of the First Tee program in Charlottesville are making their points clear to city council. They're asking councilors to keep funding for the program. The program is on the chopping block in the city's proposed budget.

Supporters say out of the almost $148,000,000 budget, they would only need around $40,000 to operate.

"The ones that we see that come through, one of the biggest things it brings them out from being wall flowers if you will. I think you heard one lady in there earlier say how shy her son was before the First Tee and he's gone all the way up and competed in national events" said supporter Wayne Hall.

Organizers say the program is about more than just golf, it is also about youth development.
