Along with several road closures, some hiking trails have also been closed in Albemarle county.

The Rivanna River was flooded at Darden Towe park.

"This is all normally dry here. Probably 50 yards, well, from here to that treeline," said Frank Gibilin, a jogger at the park, pointing to the swollen river. Orange cones blocked off a road to the Rivanna. Giblin had to take detour because his jogging trail was underwater.

The Rivanna Trail between Riverview Park and Free Bridge were underwater and unsafe as well.

"It's amazing. The amount of rain we had yesterday must have -- I've never seen it like this, and I've been here two, three years," said Giblin, who lives in Albemarle county.

It is strongly recommended that people not use the trail until water recedes and city crews are able to return the trail to a safe condition on Monday.
