Fluvanna Co. Receives $10,000 For New Amphitheater

June 20, 2013

Fluvanna Co. could soon be the home of a new amphitheater, thanks to a grant from the Bama Works Fund of The Dave Matthews Band.

The Bama Fund helps support charitable programs in Central Virginia.

A $10,000 dollar grant was given to the county for the project. The amphitheater is expected to be build on the grassy field at Pleasant Grove Park.

Officials hope that when the amphitheater is complete it will hold up to 800 people.

"Basically anyone that has any kind of musical talent or need for the platform will be able to utilize that area," says Jason Smith from Fluvanna Parks & Recreation. "We will partner with the local Fluvanna arts council, it's a great amenity add on to the opportunities at pleasant grove."

Parks officials say the amphitheater will be a great resource for events like "BBQ, Bands, & Brews" and "Old Farm Day."

Fluvanna High School will also be able to use the amphitheater for their music and drama classes.

Officials hope the project can begin by next Summer.
