The Fluvanna County School Board announced it is accepting applications for the vacated seat on the board representing the Rivanna District.
The job posting comes three weeks after board member Brian Phillips announced his resignation on Jan. 12. His job as a government contractor forced him to move to Hawaii at the end of January.
Superintendent Gena Keller says the board will likely appoint a temporary member following interviews and a closed-door session. They have 45 days to make that appointment.
All applicants must be qualified voters and residents of the Rivanna district. Interested persons may access the School Board application online.
Completed applications should be mailed to the attention of Brandi Critzer, Clerk of the School Board, 14455 James Madison Highway, Palmyra, VA 22963, and must be received no later than Friday, Feb. 17 at 4 p.m.
The Fluvanna County School Board will conduct interviews to fill the vacated seat on the School Board representing the Rivanna District beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Residents will select a permanent member in a special election later this year.
