Former Officer Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography

February 19, 2013

Former Charlottesville teacher and Albemarle County Officer Charles Long has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography.

Charles Long had faced charges of possession and producing child pornography, on Tuesday, in an Albemarle County court, some of those charges were dropped.

Long was arrested back in April of 2012 for alleged possession and reproduction of child pornography after police found pictures and photo negatives of a minor.

As part of a plea agreement, Long admitted having the images in his possession, but prosecutors say they could not prove that he actually took the pictures.

Long will spend three years in prison, but will have to maintain good behavior for twenty, or he could have more time added.

He has also been ordered to not have any unsupervised contact with minors.

Long addressed the court after pleading guilty, saying that he deeply regrets his actions.

He will remain out on bond until he reports to prison on March 14.
