Renee Wilson knows the pain of enduring a power outage. A derecho left her and her family without electricity for 10 days this summer. As Hurricane Sandy barrels up the east coast , Wilson says she's going to prepare.
"We're going to get water; if it gets cold we have a wood stove. We're lucky, we have the wood," Wilson said.
The hurricane is expected to make landfall early next week. Wilson says she has more to do before then.
Based on her last storm experience, Wilson says she doesn't have any confidence in county leaders.
She says if the storm comes near Virginia, leaving is not an option.
"I'm happy for you, if you have that money but I don't," Wilson said. "A lot of people are in my situation; you can't just pick up and go."
In the meantime Wilson will stock up on water and food as the hurricane draws near.
