The Giant and Martin's supermarket chains are recalling a number of dairy bars from store shelves without listing milk on the ingredient label.
The stores say the NuGO Non Dairy bars are safe for consumers who do not have a milk allergy to consume. Those with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, though, could run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the products.
The specific products recalled are:
NuGO Nutrition Bar Dark Chocolate Trail Mix, UPC 69153545301, 16.9 oz., with a "best by" date in 2013
NuGO Natural Energy Bars Chocolate Chip, UPC 69153552101, 50 grams, with a "best by" date in 2013
NuGO Natural Energy Bars Dark Mocha, UPC 69153552301, 50 grams, with a "best by" date in 2013
NuGO Nutrition Bar Dark Pretzel, UPC 69153552901, 19.08 oz., with a "best by" date in 2013
The supermarkets warn symptoms of any food allergies could appear within a few minutes to two hours after someone consumes the product. Symptoms include hives, rashes, vomiting, dizziness and difficulty breathing, among others.
