Girl Scouts Hold Leadership Conference in Charlottesville

August 13, 2014

An event Wednesday morning in Charlottesville was all about girl power.

The Girl Scouts of the Virginia Skyline Council held a leadership conference at the Holiday Inn to help teen girls learn more about possible career opportunities.

It was also a chance to network with local businesswomen.

The goal of the event was focus on career aspirations beyond college.

“To learn what you don't want to do is just as important as learning what you do want to do in life,” said Event Development Director Hailey Hermosa. “So maybe they thought oh I want to do this, and they learn more about it and they think no maybe I'll head more in this direction as far as their career choices and what they're going to major in school in later on.”

Other guests included police officers, school officials and pediatricians.
