According to the Virginia Public Access Project, the Republican Governor's Association has paid for three media buy-ins over the past three weeks for Republican Candidate for Governor of Virginia, Ken Cuccinelli. One of those buy-ins was for more than 1 Million dollars. VPAP gets this information for the State Board of Elections. VPAP.org says that the RGA has given $5,664,092, by far Cuccinelli's largest financial supporter.

It is unclear how much money the Democratic Governor's Association as given Democratic candidate for Virginia Governor, Terry McAuliffe, recently. As of June 17 McAuliffe had received $2,180,638, again, according to VPAP.org.

The difference is that the RGA is classified as a '527 Committee', which means they have to give immediate notification of to whom and how much they donate. The DGA is a "Super PAC" and does not have to disclose state campaign donations.

However, any recent DGA donations will be disclosed on September 16 by McAuliffe, which is when he is scheduled to file his next disclosure report.
