Eight pooches and their people celebrated their special relationships Sunday afternoon at a graduation ceremony for Service Dogs of Virginia.
Physical assistance, autism service and diabetic alert dogs got their chance in the spotlight at Buford Middle School in Charlottesville.
Service Dogs of Virginia trains and matches dogs to help people with various special needs. It takes up to two years to train the dogs, and then another few weeks of training after the dogs are placed with a person.
Sunday was a celebration of the teams that were matched up in 2013.
This June, the Ruff Cuts Film Festival will benefit the Service Dogs of Virginia organization.
