The case is moving forward against a Fluvanna County man charged in an alleged dog fighting ring.

On Monday, a grand jury found there is enough evidence in the case against Brenton Mathis.

Mathis is facing eight counts of felony animal fighting, one felony count of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and 10 misdemeanor counts of failure to care for an animal.

Several dogs were taken from his property in January.

On Tuesday, Feb. 18, a judge heard from two officers and a veterinarian about what conditions the dogs were found in, and what else was discovered on Mathis' property.

Mathis will be in court again next week. He is being held without bond.
