For the next five days, the bridge over Parrott Branch in Greene County will close so it can be repaired.
Celt Road in southwestern Greene County will close beginning Monday and lasting until Friday so the superstructure can be repaired. The bridge is just south of Amicus Road.
Crews are going to replace the wooden and steel beams.
Detour signs are posted in the area. For more information, see the VDOT press release below.
CULPEPER -The bridge over Parrott Branch on Route 604 (Celt Road) in southwestern Greene County will close to traffic on Monday, Oct. 7. The bridge will be closed until Friday, Oct. 11 so the superstructure can be repaired.
The current structure, located just south of Route 633 (Amicus Road), is a steel-span, timber-deck bridge that is posted for an 10-ton maximum weight limit. Those timber deck beams and the steel beams below the deck will be replaced by the Virginia Department of Transportation's bridge crew.
During the closure through traffic on Route 604 will be detoured using Route 633 to Route 648 (Chapman Road) and back onto Route 604. Signs for the detour will be posted prior to the closure. Access to all private entrances on both sides of the bridge will be maintained during the work.
