Greene Co. Sheriff Responds to Home Break-In Concerns

Jan.6, 2014

Greene County Sheriff's officials are responding to a report CBS19 first broadcasted on Friday, Jan. 3rd.

Last week, residents in one neighborhood said that they've had a series of break-ins, and haven't seen much police response.

One resident in the Shady Grove Mobile Park said his home has been broken into, and several of his neighbors had their homes or cars broken into. He doesn't think police are doing enough to keep the neighborhood safe.

Sheriff Steve Smith says that residents' safety is a top priority.

"We're here doing our job. We're here to protect them and do the best we can, and if we do not get a call to go to someone's house, where they possible have a DNE, we don't do that. We investigate every call, and we're here for them, and we're here to do that job, and we'll do that job."

Sheriff Smith encourages Greene County residents to report any problems to his office.
