A group of Charlottesville residents have launched an online coalition opposed to the current plans for the Route 29 Western Bypass project.
The Bypass Truth Coalition already has over 250 likes on their Facebook page.
They say their mission is to use social media to inform people about the Western Bypass, and alternatives to the project.
The group is concerned about the environmental impact on the area, and they claim that the bypass will have limited traffic benefits.
"One of our main concerns is that there has been a huge lack of transparency in this whole process," says Nora Seilheimer, the leader of the online coalition. "Just because something has been paid for doesn't mean it's a done deal."
Seilheimer says their group will be pushing for candidates in the upcoming Albemarle County Board of Supervisors election who support alternatives to the Western Bypass.
