Group Raises More Than $450k for Martha Jefferson Hospital

Feb. 25, 2014

Women's health care is getting a big boost in Charlottesville.

Tuesday morning, the Women's Committee of Martha Jefferson presented a check to the hospital for more than $450,000 at the Boar's Head Inn.

They raised the money during fundraisers like Martha's Market and the Squash Cancer Squash Tournament.

The money will help women with breast care and 3D imaging.

"It's a wonderful thing. I'm a breast cancer survivor and this means a lot to me to be able to do this and provide these services for women that may not get the services otherwise," said Suzanne Jewell.

This year's events raised $30,000, more than last year.
