The boys basketball game Tuesday night between Charlottesville High School and Monticello High School was suspended during the third quarter after a fight broke out.
Police say a handful of parents and fans left the stands and came onto the court at Monticello High School.
According to school representatives, the game was stopped as a precaution. It was later called off since it had no impact in the final standing for either team in tournament play.
As for the players, the MHS athletic director is reviewing video to see which Monticello High School students left the bench. There is a rule in Virginia athletics that any player who leaves the bench will be suspended in the next game. Those players have not yet been identified.
The Virginia High School League (VHSL) told CBS19 there is no basis for them to be involved in disciplining the players. A VHSL official said no players were ejected from the game, so it will be up to the individual schools to determine if any disciplinary actions are necessary.
No injuries have been reported and school officials say it was not a "physical fight".

Wesley, check the tape on NBC29 and then come back and let me know if that elbow is how basketball is played. If you don't change your mind, there is no help for you.
The elbow was flagrant and uncalled for. 44 should be suspended for a game. No place in basketball for that.
Tell me this: do you know ANY CHS students? Do you pay ANY attention to the fact that no CHS players left the bench, while numerous MHS players did? Funny, because it takes very little intelligence to notice the high levels of success and integrity inherent in all of what CHS is and does.
