Police are searching for two men following a high-speed chase that spanned three counties early Friday morning.
Sgt. Darrell Byers tells CBS19 an Albemarle County officer noticed the suspects driving a car in the Pantops area that had been reported stolen in the City of Charlottesville. It was reported to Albemarle officers that one of the suspect had brandished a firearm while in the county.
At approximately 5 a.m., officers followed the white sedan onto I-64E and continued to follow when it exited at Zion Crossroads (exit 136). Sgt. Byers says the suspects pretended to make a turn at a service station, but then sped off down Route 15 toward the Fluvanna County line.
Law enforcement officers from Albemarle, Fluvanna and Louisa followed in pursuit at speeds reportedly in excess of 90 miles per hour.
The Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office says a spike strip was put down on Route 15 near the Village of Palmyra. After the car's tires were deflated and it came to a stop, the two suspects fled on foot in the area.
Authorities have not provided a detailed description of the two men. They searched the area of the abandoned car with the assistance of a K-9 team from the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office and a helicopter from the Virginia State Police, but the suspects remain at large.
Citizens are warned to be alert to suspicious individuals in the area of Palmyra. Deputies from the sheriff’s office will be conducting intensified, random patrols of these areas for the public’s protection.
"If they notice anybody suspicious or anybody they don't recognize walking on the roads, asking for a ride, things of that nature, first of all don't let them into your home. Don't let them use your phone. Don't let them get in your vehicle. Go ahead and call us," said Lt. Aaron Hurd of the Fluvanna County Sheriff's Office.
Anyone who may see a suspicious individual or situation is encouraged to contact the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office by dialing 911 or on the non-emergency number of 434-589-8211.

The suspects bailed out in the area near the bank in downtown Palmyra. It is several miles to any of the schools from there. The suspects were headed into the wooded areas along 601/Courthouse Road at around 5:30am.
I have to agree with "Flucomom" on this one.If they are on foot they are going to look for someplace to hide and where better then a school.I don't think enough is known about them as to how dangerous they can be .
Are the schools on lockdown? All but Cunningham school are within five miles of where they suspects fled on foot...
