The 18th Annual Spirit Walk gave visitors a glimpse into Charlottesville's past at the Maplewood Cemetery.
"It’s an event that’s geared to entertain as well as educate the community about some of the historic persons that have been in our community," said Albemarle-Charlottesville Historical Society President Steven Meeks.
Visitors heard stories from significant figures in Charlottesville history. Actors engaged the audience. Sacajawea also made a spiritual visit.
"She wasn't from this area. She is represented on a statue on West Main Street. Just wanted to stop by and let us know what she thought of Lewis and Clark," said Meeks.
This year, organizers added a new attraction.
"One of the added attractions this year is the opportunity to get into the old Albemarle County Jail," said Meeks. "We conduct surveys every year and we get positive reviews each and every time. We try to vary every year based up some public input as to who people might want to see.
Visitors enjoy taking a walk through Charlottesville’s history.
