Hit and Run Sends Five People to Hospital
An 18-year-old female is facing four charges in connection with a hit and run crash that occurred on 5th Street Tuesday night. The incident sent five people to the hospital.

An 18-year-old female is facing four charges in connection with a hit and run crash that occurred on 5th Street Tuesday night.

Police say an SUV overturned after it was hit by a Hyundai in the 1600 block of 5th Street.

The SUV had three children and two adults in it at the time. All five passengers taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The Hyundai had four occupants, all of whom fled the scene. But police were able to catch the driver, Alegra Cooper, and take her into custody.

She is facing four charges, including reckless driving, driving with tinted windows, driving without insurance and leaving the scene of a crash.

§ 46.2-710. Disposition of funds collected. All funds collected by the Commissioner under the provisions of this article shall be paid into the state treasury and held in a special fund to be known as the Uninsured Motorists Fund to be disbursed as provided by law. The Commissioner may expend monies from such funds, for the administration of this article, in accordance with the General Appropriations Act.
