Holiday Pet Food Drive Doubles Goal

January 5, 2014

Over the holidays many donated food to shelters for people who were in need, but what about the animals.

Well, a few volunteers held their second annual Holiday Pet Food Drive throughout the months of November and December.

They asked people to donate pet food to help the Ring Dog Rescue shelter and the Caring for Creatures Animal Sanctuary.

Last year they raised over 2,000 lbs. of pet food and this year they doubled that goal with over 4,000 lbs.

"If they do human food drives why not do it for the animals, since it's our second biggest expense when we're doing animal rescue and in shelters and things like that," says Trista Pullaro, volunteer for Ring Dog Rescue.

"It's nice that people have something tangible that they know where their donation is going and what it's going towards,” says Kim Matsko, owner of Natural Pet Essentials. “It's not just monetary donation where they're thinking what is this being used for, they know exactly what this is being used for."
