Several horses that were seized from a farm in Staunton are available for adoption.
WHSV-TV reports the Augusta County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals had cared for the horses since they were taken from Terry Sullivan's farm in February 2010. An animal control officer had discovered one dead horse and others that were hungry after a record-setting blizzard.
Sullivan surrendered 30 horses and was convicted of three counts
of animal cruelty in January.
Chapter director Debbie Caywood says eight horses have regained their health and are ready to be placed in new homes. The adoption fee is $300.
