Between the holidays and the Super Bowl, many people have packed on a few extra pounds and may have lost some motivation in their New Years resolutions to get fit. To jump start your gym routine, try re-vamping your work-out wardrobe.
Jennifer Tweel-Kelly, owner of the Hip Joint on the downtown mall in Charlottesville says sometimes the right outfit can help you get back into your new years resolution. The right outfit can also help give the illusion of a slender physique. Tweel-Kelly likes one particular pair of pants that help you look thinner. "Put these on and instantly look 5 pound thinner," said Tweel-Kelly.
Pants with an adjustable waist line can keep you from feeling self conscious when your fitness routine has you striking a unique pose. Tough yoga workouts and exercises like burpees and mountain-climbers can put your wardrobe to the test.
"If you're in class and you're feeling self conscious about the way you look, it actually takes away from your work out," says Tweel-Kelly. "So it's nice to have something where you're not feeling like you're spilling out of the front or back of your pants."
Work out attire should be flattering and functional. Tweel -Kelly suggests looking for a top with removable bra padding, a zipper compartment for keys and other items, and a mesh panel for breathability once you start sweating.
While black is a slimming color and great for exercise attire, don't be afraid to try pieces with patterns or prints. For a busy day, throw on a jacket and you can go from the gym to running errands.
