At least two injuries have been reported at house fire in northern Albemarle County.

At approximately 11:15am, fire and rescue crews were called to a single-family home in the 2300 block of Rivers Edge Road north of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport on the northbound side of Route 29/Seminole Trail.

One resident was injured, as was a neighbor who helped get him to safety. Both were taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The right northbound lane of Route 29 was closed to traffic because firefighters had to stage so close to the road.

"We had to lay down our own supply line. It's well over 1,000 feet, so that creates difficulty in getting our equipment to where we need it," said Albemarle County Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Howard Lagomarsino. "A lot of it is having to walk the equipment in that distance from the road where most of the equipment had to be staged."

Officials believe the fire started in the basement apartment of the home, but are unsure of a cause.
