The Humane Society of America awarded a dog from Louisa County with the Pets of Valor Award on Tuesday.
Chilly, an English-bulldog mix, and her owner Heidi Parker were given a crystal statue and silver dog tags to honor the heroic canine.
Chilly won the award for waking up her owner before her throat closed off from an allergic reaction.
The Fluvanna County SPCA, where Chilly was adopted, will get 500-pounds of dog food and a $5,000 grant for medical supplies.
