Hundreds gathered at the King Family Vineyard in Crozet for the 8th annual Pink Ribbon Polo Classic. The event works to raise awareness and support for breast cancer.

This year all of the money went to the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation. Organizers say money is needed now more than ever.

"Sometimes people get desensitized to breast cancer, because it seems like there is a pink ribbon on this or that, but it really is vital to us because we are a small organization and we receive no government," said Meg Shrader, of the Virginia Breast Cancer.

"I think people assume its curable right away and its not much of an issue, when it really still is it impacts a lot of people," Emily Doherty, a Richmond Resident.

Organizers were hoping to raise more than $30,000.
