Local artists got a chance to show off their work in a different way on Sunday.
Instead of showcasing work in a gallery, they used an ice cream shop.
Fifth-grade students from Agnor-Hurt Elementary School created ice cream-themed artwork, and 40 of them were selected to display their work at Kirt's Homemade Ice Cream Shop in Albemarle Square.
Students were able to take pictures with their art and get a few scoops of ice cream.
"We studied drawing the form cones and cylinders and we incorporated that into an ice cream drawing," said Christy Lopez, an art specialist at Agnor-Hurt Elementary. "One of the fifth-grade SOL's for art is to know how to draw a 3D form and also shade it."
The kids whose artwork was chosen received a buy-one, get-one free coupon from the store.
