In Virginia, the top newsmakers to watch in 2013
(Eds: APNewsNow.)
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Bill Bolling may be out of the 2013 Virginia governor's race, but that doesn't mean he's off the stage.
The lame duck lieutenant governor is among The Associated Press's 2013 Virginia newsmakers to watch with elections looming for three statewide offices and all 100 House seats.
Top billing is shared by Democrat Terry McAuliffe and his likely November foe, Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.
McAuliffe is unchallenged for his party's gubernatorial nomination. Bolling feels Cuccinelli squeezed him out of the GOP nomination and could spoil it for Cuccinelli with an independent run.
Gov. Bob McDonnell is offering significant educational and transportation reform legislation.
Another newsmaker isn't a person but a metal. Lawmakers must decide whether to end Virginia's uranium mining ban.
