In a few weeks, the Battle Building at UVa. Medical Center will open.
It's the $117 million outpatient children's hospital that's being constructed at West Main Street in Charlottesville.
Now, crews are putting the finishing touches on the interior.
The building will house all pediatric specialty and primary care under one roof.
That's something UVa. Medical Center chief operating officer Bo Cofield says they're looking forward to offering patients.
"The University of Virginia Medical Center and Health System are very good at multidisciplinary care," said Cofield. "Unfortunately in our current situation, some of the patients and families have to move to where the clinics are. What ends up happening here is that the caregivers can move to where the patients are, and they can stay in a single building and receive all of their care -- no matter the difficulty."
Cofield says the outpatient surgery center will be relocated from the southside of UVa. grounds to the basement of the Battle Building. He says that will expand capacity by about 50 percent.
The Battle Building will open in June.
