NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The new owner of the International Seaman's House in Norfolk says she plans to preserve its nautical heritage.
Tricia Greene bought the century-old house from the Norfolk Seaman's Friend Society last week for $253,000.
Greene tells The Virginian-Pilot that she knew she had fought the right place when she looked out an upstairs window and saw the masts of ships. She's a third mate with the Military Sealift Command and a lieutenant junior grade in the Naval Reserve.
The house had served as a home away from home for mariners from around the world since the late 1960s.
