Ivy Materials Utilization Center will Remain Open

Jan. 28, 2014

A final hurdle for the Ivy Materials Utilization Center has been cleared.

After a public hearing, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors voted to keep the center open for one more year.

On Tuesday, the Rivanna Solid Waste Authority voted and agreed to extend that contract. This was after opposition from Keene and Mill Creek to having new solid waste convenience centers put in their neighborhoods.

This move allows the board more time to establish those centers and determine where they will go.
