Students at Jack Jouett Middle School have been recognized for their college readiness.

Jack Jouett was designated a Demonstration School in the AVID program on Thursday, an honor only two percent of schools in AVID receive.

Jouett students have been participating in AVID, or Achievement Via Individual Determination, for a few years. AVID is an international program which prepares students for success in college. AVID aims to help students who will be the first in their family to attend college.

"Today really validates all their hard work and their efforts, but it also places them on a track to continuously improve and to make learning better for their students," said Jaime Lomax-McClary, AVID Regional Program Manager.

As a Demonstration School, Jack Jouett will serve as a model for other schools. The students will regularly host students from the United States and other countries to learn how to build and manage an AVID program.
