The Jefferson School marks a new chapter with a special ceremony.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Tuesday morning, marking the completion of $18 million worth of renovations.
Nine non-profits are moving into the Jefferson School City Center to share resources and provide services to the public.
"This is a unique combination of an important city and federal landmark and a reuse for the community," said Steve Blaine of the Jefferson Community Partners. "And the community organizations that are here really cross cut generations. So its very exciting, I don't think there is anything quite like it in the country."
The new services included with the updated facility include a health care provider, counseling services, tutoring classes, a new state of the art rec center, and child care.
An open house is scheduled for January 19th.
