Sunday marked a big birthday for a local landmark, as the Jefferson Theater in Charlottesville celebrated 100 years of art and music.
As part of the celebration, the Jefferson hosted a VIP party featuring live music and food to celebrate a century in business. Those who work at the venue say the theater is an important part of the community.
The Jefferson has hosted different concerts from a variety of high-profile artists, including rapper Snoop Dogg last year.
"It provided a hub for entertainment and artistic expression in different forms over the years," said Danny Shea, a booker at the theater. "The fact that we've been able to come back and restore it to its original as a live performance theater, I think, speaks volume.
The theater marked its 100th birthday with performances from Invisible Hand and Rayland Baxter.
