The Easter Bunny isn't scheduled to arrive until the weekend, but a group of local kids got a hop-start on the holiday.

Kids at the Kluge Children's Rehabilitation Center spent the day searching for hidden Easter eggs. They got some help from the Charlottesville Fire Department, which hosts the event every year.

This year, football players from the University of Virginia came to help tackle the search.

"I'm just volunteering, helping out with the kids," football player Chase Minnifield said. "It's always fun to come see some kids in the community and just show our faces and just brighten their day."

After kids found all the eggs, they all received prizes.

This year marks the 37th year for the event.
