LEAP Aims to Solarize Charlottesville

July 1, 2014

Charlottesville residents can now install solar energy equipment on their homes for a lower cost.

Solarize Charlottesville is a new three month program started by the Local Energy Alliance Program
(LEAP). The program works with local solar companies to get reduced prices on solar installation.

At a launch event Tuesday, LEAP showcased a home in the city that is already using solar energy.

“It's all a community based program,” says Program Manager Jon Proffitt. “As the community here is Charlottesville rallies behind solar, our local installers have been able to lower their prices and this just makes the whole process easier and affordable for everyone.”

These cheaper prices will last through the summer.
