UPDATE

Runaway teenage from Fluvanna County has been located and has been returned home.

Earlier on Saturday, the Lake Monticello Police Department asked for the public's help in finding the missing girl.

Police said 16-year-old Chelsea Marie Ortiz was last seen on Wednesday getting into an SUV waiting near her home.

A lieutenant with the police department called Ortiz a frequent runaway, but one who usually returns within one day. Three days after her disappearance, parents' and police's concerns were growing.

Police said Ortiz had no cell phone on her and could have been on her way to New Jersey, where her biological father lives.

She was found Saturday evening.

I think that from personal experience, that we too often are quick to judge and blame those that make irrational and dangerous decisions. Maybe she felt and has felt before that she has no other choice. Granted I dont know her situation, but no one but her and her family does. I know that one's actions should be their responsibility, but I think that often parents can prevent these things from happening, and they choose not to for their own selfish reasons. Maybe she was not getting the support she felt she needed at home, and while she shouldn't turn those into childish decisions, she is still a child. I know that if my parents didnt dismiss everything "serious" that I went thru as a teenager, being diagnosed with a mental illness, if I had a little more of their support, just a little, I wouldn't have felt so alone and lost. Just a thought that maybe she seems irresponsible, but she just clearly needs help and support. Don't dismiss people like this...

This girl needs help. She was lucky. Next time she may not return. There are too many missing teens (like Samantha from Orange) and God forbid she end up with the same fate as Morgan Harrington
