City officials honored the late Preston Coiner Sunday with an honorary street naming just before the sealing of the city's time capsule.
The intersection of Second Street Northeast and East Jefferson Street is now the honorary Preston Coiner Street.
Coiner worked in various roles in the city. He was the vice president of the Albemarle-Charlottesville Historical Society, historian for the city's Board of Architectural Review, and was working for the Celebrate! 250 campaign before his death.
"I already think of him when I walk down the street. Now I'll see his name up there," said daughter Catherine Coiner-Crittenden.
Coiner unexpectedly passed away in september. He's survived by his wife of 52 years.
