Witnesses Testify About Being Pistol Whipped, Robbed, During Botched Home Invasion Leading to Triple Murder in Greene Co

Sept. 25, 2013

The murder trial of Taybronne White began Wednesday in Greene County. White faces three charges of first-degree murder stemming from a home invasion and robbery in May of 2011.

During opening arguments, prosecutors presented the case as a botched robbery that ended in murder, with White shooting his three accomplices; 26-year-old Brian Lee Daniels, 25-year-old Dustin Tyler Knighton and 26-year-old Lisa Hwang.

Jurors heard testimony from two men living in a home on Ford Avenue who say they woke to loud banging noises early in the morning of May 3, 2011. Jermaine Frye and Willie Roy say two men kicked in their front door and entered the home waving guns and yelling "give it up". Roy says one of the men pistol whipped him, causing several teeth to fall out. After the masked men couldn't find any money or drugs, they left.

Prosecutors say White and Knighton were the masked gunmen and that they were trying to rob the home of a man named Jermaine Jones. Prosecutors say the mix-up in the address of the home invasion is what caused the triple murder.

According to Greene County prosecutor Ron Morris, Daniels and Hwang were waiting in the car. As the four sped away, a fight broke out and ended with several gunshots. The bodies of Hwang, Daniels, and Knighton were found dumped on the side of Octonia Road.

The two brothers who found the bodies also testified Wednesday. Greg Snow said at first, he thought there were trash bags in the middle of the road but quickly realized they were bodies and called 911.

Testimony will pick up Thursday morning at 9:00 AM.
