Police say the person in threat after an alert email was sent out to parents in Albemarle County is not a threat. CBS19 spent the day with the Southwestern Advantage employees in and around our area to learn more about what they do.

Reid Joseph is a senior at Texas A&M University and it is his second year working for Southwestern Advantage, a publishing company based in Nashville, TN.

"I'm paying my way through school so I'm out here working hard for the summer so I don't have to dip into student loans," Reid said, as he travels through Nelson County selling educational books and resources for kids.

Southwestern Advantage hires about 5,000 college students across the country to live with a host family in a certain area and to cover that area for sales. Joseph is assigned to Nelson County and is living with a family in Charlottesville who's son used to work for the same company several years ago.

The industrial engineering major says she's learned quite a bit of life and communication skills. And as team manager for the employees here, after an incident like Wednesday involving a co-worker approaching children in Keswick, it's just another opportunity to learn.

"Obviously with daily interactions with different people everyday, things do happen but we wanted to humbly asking people to understand that whatever the situation was, we did not mean any harm by it or anything like that," Joseph said. "That is not how we go about doing things. We always ask for the mom and dad because we are marketing a products so we're not trying to catch up with the kids, we're just trying to sit down with parents in the area."

He held a team meeting on Thursday night to address the situation again and remind to only approach adults. The team also met with Dr. Matthew Haas, Assistant Superintendent of Albemarle County School District Friday morning to make sure everyone was on the same page.
