Members of the Living Wage Campaign joined forces with local community organizations outside Madison Hall Wednesday afternoon to deliver a letter to University of Virginia president Teresa Sullivan.

"This isn't just an issue that students are interested in. This isn't just an issue that faculty are interested in. This is an issue every resident of Charlottesville is interested in," said Hunter Link, of the Living Wage Campaign.

The University says they are making progress on giving all UVa employees a "living wage", however members of the campaign aren't buying it. They say the minimum wage of UVa. employees is less than $11/hour, and in the letter to President Sullivan the group asked UVa. to raise the minimum wage to $13/hour.

This request is different from previous ones because it's backed by several community groups and has many people involved.

"Most of these groups have been involved in the Living Wage Campaign in one form or another. The time is now to stand together and demand that this serious issue is addressed," said community member and former Charlottesville City Council candidate Brandon Collins.

The campaign has asked the University to issue a response by Friday and will be back out advocating for their cause on Saturday, regardless of the outcome.

Wow, talk about feeling entitled. "Is that the best this country could have done for you at that time?" Really? The question should be "Is that best you could have done for yourself at that time?" "I make a little bit above that and am unable to afford my own space in an area that I would prefer to live." Maybe I'd like an apartment in Manhattan or a mansion on the beach, so I should just be paid more!
