Local artists are hoping to turn the vacant lot next to the IX building into a masterpiece.
They came together to walk around the property and brainstorm on Sunday afternoon. They hope to create an art friendly space by adding more culture and artwork to Charlottesville's growing art community.
One local artist believes the space should be more than a vacant parking lot.
“There's just a lot of space here, there's stuff that can be done,” says Joseph Schepps, local artist. “The people, who own the place, apparently want to make that happen.”
“Us as artist having like a blank canvas to work with, it's like okay, yea. If you're inviting us we're gonna come and see what we can do.”
They hope to get more support from the community to make their dreams a reality.
