The Piedmont Council for the Arts is gearing up to unveil its new cultural plan for Charlottesville during a Monday night ceremony.

The cultural plan will focus on six different goals -- diversity and inclusion, arts education, cultural destination, creative workers, creative placemaking and cutural infrastructure.

One of the co-chairs of the PCA says it will help create an art and cultural community in the Charlottesville-Albemarle area.

"It's about looking at what Charlottesville has to offer in the arts, humanities, cultural studies, cultural affairs, cultural activities, festivals and productions of all kinds," said Rob Vaughn, president of the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. "And to come together to think about what can we do to create Charlottesville."

The idea of Charlottesville's first cultural plan was launched in January of last year.

The ceremony to unveil will the plan will take place at 5 p.m. Monday at the Paramount Theater. It will include live jazz along with a presentation on the cultural plan.

The event is free and open to the public.
